What’s wrong with hair loss after a major facelift?

Many beauty seekers complain: I did a large facelift just to become more youthful, but I do not want the hair on the top part of the head not only delayed growth after surgery but also hair loss, so worried, is this the after-effects of surgery? In fact, this kind of hair loss is mainly seen after the traditional large scalp incision debulking surgery. There are two reasons for this: 1. Hair follicle damage, this kind of permanent hair loss. When cutting the scalp, the direction of the incision is not consistent with the direction of hair follicle growth, resulting in transverse hair follicle damage; when removing the scalp, the direction of the incision is not consistent with the direction of the hair follicle resulting in new hair follicle damage. Therefore, the width of the hair follicle damage at both ends of the incision determines the width of the scalp hair loss after surgery. In layman’s terms: If there is no follicular damage at either end of the incision, there will be no significant hair loss around the incision; if there is follicular damage on one side of the incision, there will be hair loss on one side of the incision; and if there is follicular damage on both sides of the incision, there will be a wider area of hair loss on both sides of the incision. What should I do when this happens? For permanent hair loss after a major facelift, it is necessary to perform a fine repair of the incision again and remove the hair follicle-free area to preserve the hair follicles, which is a simpler method. In addition, local hair transplantation can also be carried out, which is relatively more complicated. 2, too much scalp excision After too much scalp excision, the tension of the suture is larger, which will affect the blood circulation of the scalp and cause scalp hair loss, and this kind of hair loss will gradually get better. Scalp clips are used for a long time during surgery to prevent scalp bleeding, and local scalp ischemic alopecia can also occur without removing the scalp, which can usually recover in about 3 months. It is recommended that candidates who want to undergo a major facelift go to a regular hospital for treatment to avoid adding unnecessary risks to the procedure. For those under 60 years old and whose facial sagging is not particularly serious, a more minimally invasive face lift surgery can be chosen.
