Is surgery necessary for cervical fibroids

If the size of cervical fibroid is relatively small, regular review is enough; if the size of fibroid is relatively large, or the fibroid degenerates and affects women’s fertility, surgical treatment is needed.
Cervical fibroid refers to the smooth muscle tumor occurring in the cervix, which is a special type of uterine fibroid, and is relatively rare in clinic. The treatment should be based on the size of fibroid and related symptoms to decide whether surgery is needed.
1. For fibroids that are small in size and do not protrude out of the cervix, no special treatment is needed and regular checkups are sufficient.
2. For fibroids that are very large in size, protrude out of the cervix, cause heavy menstruation and degeneration, they need to be treated by hysteroscopic or laparoscopic surgery such as removal of the fibroid or hysterectomy.
For patients whose cervical fibroids are detected by examination, it is recommended to go to regular hospitals in time, complete relevant examinations, and choose the appropriate way of active treatment under the guidance of doctors in order to get the best therapeutic effect.
