ApoAI refers to apolipoprotein AI. Low ApoAI values are commonly caused by impaired liver function and decreased synthesis of ApoAI by liver cells, and are also seen in patients with atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, familial ApoAl deficiency, and other diseases. ApoAl is the main apolipoprotein in HDL cholesterol and plays an important role in the reverse transportation of cholesterol. ApoAl is mainly synthesized in the liver. If liver function is impaired, such as in patients with cirrhosis, alcoholic hepatitis, chronic hepatitis and other liver diseases, the synthesis of ApoAl by liver cells is reduced. Familial ApoAl deficiency can also lead to low ApoAl if it occurs in the family. It is recommended to visit the hospital promptly if you notice a decrease in ApoAI.
