Dulcolax, or pethidine, has an analgesic effect 10 minutes after intramuscular injection, peaks at 45min and lasts for 2-4 hours. The analgesic effect of this drug is equivalent to 1/8-1/10 of morphine. dulcolax can be used clinically for the following: 1. mainly for eliminating various severe pains, such as trauma, burns, scalds, postoperative pain; 2. cardiogenic asthma; 3. narcotic administration; 4. eliminating severe visceral pains, such as biliary colic and renal colic, which need to be used together with atropine. This drug can be used in combination with chlorpromazine and promethazine for artificial hibernation, and the effect is more similar to morphine, which can produce the same analgesic, sedative and respiratory depressant effects as morphine under equal dose conditions. However, dulcolax has a shorter maintenance time and does not have the cough suppressant effect of morphine.
