Topical medications for periodontitis are generally topical iodine preparations, such as iodine glycerin or minocycline hydrochloride ointment, which are two common medications that can relatively control periodontal pathogenic bacteria so that periodontitis pathogenic bacteria do not develop and periodontitis symptoms are controlled. However, it must be clinically clear that topical topical medications for periodontitis are far from sufficient and must be combined with basic periodontal therapy. All these drugs are recommended to be applied after supragingival scaling and subgingival scraping to achieve a cleaner periodontium in order to achieve better clinical control, and it is not possible to achieve clinical control of periodontitis by applying drugs alone.
