What’s wrong with swollen feet in the second trimester?

Swollen feet in late pregnancy may be physiological edema, or it may be caused by pathological reasons such as elevated blood pressure or hypoproteinemia during pregnancy.
1. Physiological edema: the uterus enlarges in late pregnancy, compressing the inferior vena cava, resulting in obstruction of inferior vena cava reflux, so there will be obvious edema of the lower limbs. There is no need to do special treatment, when resting, women can elevate the lower limbs to relieve the symptoms.
2. Elevated blood pressure during pregnancy: Elevated blood pressure during pregnancy leads to a decrease in renal filtration function, which makes lower limb swelling easy to occur.
3. Hypoproteinemia: Pregnant women who do not get enough protein from their diets and whose albumin level in the blood decreases will show hypoproteinemia, and will be prone to lower limb edema after standing for a long time.
The swelling of the feet of pregnant women after pregnancy may also be due to other reasons, need to be combined with clinical symptoms to fully assess the situation, there are uncomfortable symptoms should be timely to the hospital for examination.
