Cellulitis heals in about a few days

If simple cellulitis is treated appropriately, it can usually be cured in about 1 week. If it is more severe, a prompt visit to the hospital is required. Cellulitis is actually a purulent inflammation of the subcutaneous fascia, muscle spaces, or deep lax tissues caused by bacteria, which spreads rapidly due to the laxity of the tissues and can cause widespread tissue infection, necrosis, and pain, which can be life-threatening in severe cases. If the patient is heavily infected or if the patient’s resistance is poor, such as patients with diabetes and those who have used tumor immunosuppressants and chemotherapy drugs, the corresponding resistance can become poor. If cellulitis occurs, it is not easily controlled and sometimes cellulitis often requires aggressive incision when an abscess is formed, especially for submandibular cellulitis of the oral cavity, which, if an abscess is formed, can lead to laryngeal edema compressing the trachea and causing asphyxia. Therefore, in severe cases of cellulitis combined with abscesses, the treatment period is often long, sometimes requiring 2-4 weeks of treatment to obtain healing. Treatment is based on antibiotic therapy, and patients in the acute stage should apply high doses of antibiotics to control the infection in a timely manner. The patient should avoid spicy food and take high protein food to ensure their nutrition and promote rapid healing, otherwise they need to go to the hospital to take appropriate treatment measures.
