Qingdianxia Poria Efficacy and Effects

Qing Hanxia has the effect of drying dampness and resolving phlegm (removing phlegm from the body by drying dampness); Poria has the effect of inducing diuresis and eliminating edema, seeping dampness, strengthening the spleen and tranquilizing the heart. Qing Han Xia is used to treat cough with damp phlegm, gastric plumpness (stomach distension and discomfort), phlegm and saliva coagulation, and inability to vomit. It should not be used with Chuanwu, Caowu and Radix et Rhizoma Polygoni Multiflori. Poria is used to treat edema, phlegm (pathological products formed by impaired metabolism of water and fluid), diarrhea due to spleen deficiency (diarrhea caused by weakness of the spleen), palpitations (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), and insomnia. Caution should be exercised in cases of yin deficiency without dampness-heat, deficiency of cold and essence-slip, and qi deficiency and subsidence.
