What’s wrong with your baby’s eye boogers?

There are many reasons for babies to have eye boogers, which may be related to physiological reasons, inverted eyelashes, keratitis and so on.
1. Physiological reasons: under normal circumstances, the sebaceous glands in the eyelids of the eyes will secrete oil to protect and moisturize the eyes. When the oil mixes with the dust in the eyes, eye droppings are formed. Eye droppings are usually white, small in amount, not sticky and without other discomforts, so it may be normal for babies to have eye droppings.
2. Inverted eyelashes: As eyelashes grow towards the cornea and conjunctiva, prolonged eyelash irritation of the cornea and conjunctiva can cause keratitis or conjunctivitis, which can also lead to baby’s eye boogers.
3. Keratitis: It may be that babies rub their eyes with dirty hands or parents wipe their eyes with contaminated towels, etc., which may lead to external pathogens entering the eyes and infecting the cornea and forming keratitis. Inflammation irritates the eyes, which can cause the phenomenon of baby’s eye boogers.
There are other reasons for babies to have eye boogers, so it is recommended to consult a doctor and follow the doctor’s instructions to have a relevant checkup, to identify the cause with the doctor’s help, and to carry out targeted treatment or therapy.
