Lower eye bags are caused by aging factors and are a common ophthalmic condition. Due to aging, the elasticity of collagen fibers within the skin decreases and the skin loosens, while fat accumulates under the skin, forming a pocket-like bulge that is imaginatively called under-eye bags. Currently the most effective way to remove under-eye bags is through surgical correction, which costs about$3000. The principle of the surgery is to make a skin incision in the lower eyelid area to remove the subcutaneous fat tissue, and to precisely measure and calculate the amount of skin tissue to be removed according to the preoperative examination of the skin laxity. The excess, loose skin is removed and the surgical incision is then sutured, and recovery is usually better in about 7 days after surgery. The lower eyelid has regained its flat appearance, which usually makes the patient look younger. As we age, the aging phenomenon can further loosen the local skin and recurrence of under-eye bags, at which time another surgery can be considered.
