What’s this lump under my neck?

A lump at the bottom of the neck may be caused by enlarged lymph nodes in the neck, sebaceous cysts, lipomas, boils and so on.
1. Enlarged lymph nodes in the neck: the head and neck are rich in lymph, and there are many lymph nodes in the neck itself, which can cause enlarged lymph nodes in the neck in pathophysiological state, and the causes include infectious (inflammatory) enlargement, tumor enlargement, reactive hyperplasia and histiocytotic hyperplasia enlargement, and so on.
2. Sebaceous cysts: Sebaceous cysts are retention cysts formed when the sebaceous ducts become blocked in the skin, leading to accumulation of sebum. It can be manifested as a lump at the bottom of the neck with smooth surface and clear boundary.
2. Lipoma: Lipoma is usually caused by various factors, such as abnormal metabolism of fat in the neck or inflammatory stimuli, resulting in fat degeneration and aggregation into a mass, which may appear as a lump at the base of the neck.
4. Boils: Boils are acute suppurative lesions, caused by pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus that invade individual hair follicles, resulting in localized acute suppurative lesions of the hair follicles. It often occurs in exposed skin and friction places, such as the face, neck, back and other parts of the body, mainly manifested as red, swollen, painful bumps.
A lump under the neck may also have other causes (such as goiter, fibroma, etc.), and should be promptly consulted, under the guidance of a professional doctor for a clear diagnosis and treatment.
