Whole blood, serum and plasma as well as blood product raw material samples, oral mucosal exudate, urine can be used for HIV antibody test, antibody test HIV -1/HIV -2 antibody test is the gold standard for HIV infection diagnosis. 1. Blood: either venous blood or peripheral blood such as fingertips. Qualified blood samples should be free from microbial contamination. 2. Plasma and serum: plasma is obtained by centrifugation of venous blood and therefore contains fibrin; whereas serum is obtained by centrifugation of whole blood collected in a test tube for 1 to 2 hours after the blood has coagulated and the clots have contracted, and it is more suitable for antibody testing because it does not contain fibrin. 3. Oral mucous membrane exudate: special attention should be paid to the oral mucous membrane exudate is not saliva, this method is less commonly used due to the susceptibility to false negatives. 4. Urine: can be collected randomly under normal circumstances, but women should take the mid-range urine during menstruation to avoid interfering with antibody detection. It should be noted that serum and plasma samples for antibody testing should be shipped frozen in order to ensure the validity of the sample.
