What to do about slow healing wounds

Slow healing wounds require an early visit to the hospital’s surgery or emergency department to see the cause of the slow healing. If the cause is considered to be due to infectious factors, aggressive dressing changes are needed, and some of the infected tissue may need to be removed, along with oral antibiotics, or fluids for treatment. If the cause is due to the presence of sutures draining from the wound, these will need to be removed, followed by regular dressing changes. If the patient is diabetic, the blood sugar needs to be actively regulated and the diet needs to be watched. If it is caused by poor nutritional status, appropriate intake of nutritious substances, such as vitamin-rich fruits and fresh green vegetables, appropriate intake of low-fat high-quality proteins, commonly found in fresh fish and shrimp, leaner beef, etc., but also need to appropriate intake of nuts, such as walnuts, peanuts, sesame seeds and so on.
