Feeling that there is something in the ear but you can’t pull it out may be caused by cerumen impaction, secretory otitis media, cholesteatoma of the external auditory canal, etc. It can be treated by softening the cerumen, oral glucocorticoid medication, or tympanic membrane puncture to extract the fluid, or surgery to remove the cholesteatoma. 1. Cerumen embolism: Because the ear canal secretes some cerumen, cerumen embolism will be formed when more cerumen is secreted, and if the cerumen is hard, it may appear that there is something in the ear but it is impossible to pull it out. It can be treated by oral glucocorticoid drugs, such as dexamethasone, prednisone, etc. Avoid patients with allergy to drug components and hypertension. Cholesteatoma of the external auditory canal: Cholesteatoma of the external auditory canal is an inflammatory disease caused by desquamation of the external auditory canal and accumulation of cholesterol crystals. Patients with cholesteatoma of the external auditory canal may also have the phenomenon of not being able to pull out the things in the ear. This can be treated by having cholesteatoma removal surgery.
