As the saying goes, “spring and autumn sleepy summer snooze”. In the summer, the outdoor heat often makes people sweat, if not pay attention to cooling, keep the body moisture, it is easy to make the human body depleted qi and injured fluid, fever, thirst, spontaneous sweating, fatigue and sleepy, do not think about eating, chest full of body weight, loose stools and other manifestations of heat stroke and qi deficiency. In response to this condition, Li Dongyuan, one of the famous “Four Great Masters of Jin Yuan” in Chinese medical history, created a famous Chinese herbal formula – Qing Xia Yi Qi Tang. This formula is composed of Astragalus, Medlar, Atractylodes, Pueraria Mirifica, Radix et Rhizoma, Phellodendron and other herbs, which have the effect of benefiting Qi and promoting the production of body fluid, clearing summer heat and dispelling dampness. This is the formula used in the current Chinese medicine “Qing Xia Yi Qi Wan”. In fact, Qing Xia Yi Qi Wan is not only used for heat stroke, but also for the treatment of two other common summer conditions, namely chronic fatigue syndrome and mouth ulcers. Chronic fatigue syndrome often presents with symptoms such as heartburn, spontaneous sweating, daytime drowsiness and nighttime insomnia. Qing Xia Yi Qi Wan can benefit Qi, strengthen the spleen, resolve dampness and relieve fatigue. For the mouth ulcers, Chinese medicine believes that it is mostly caused by dampness and heat, the rebellion of the meridian or fire and heat on the lips and mouth, heat will hurt Yin. The pills can on the one hand nourish the yin and generate fluid, and on the other hand benefit the qi to support the sores and promote the healing of mouth ulcers.
