How much do you know about hypertension?

Hypertension Hypertension is the most common cardiovascular disease and is the most important risk factor for the development of stroke and coronary heart disease in our population. Hypertension is not only a disease of abnormal hemodynamics, but also a syndrome in which multiple cardiovascular risk factors are aggregated and inherited, called hypertension syndrome, a special form of metabolic syndrome. The prevalence of hypertension increases gradually with age, and the prevalence of hypertension in China is 11. 36%, which is not as high as the Western population, but because of the large population …… Hypertension is the most common cardiovascular disease and the most important risk factor for the development of stroke and coronary heart disease in our population. Hypertension is not only a disease of abnormal hemodynamics, but also a syndrome of multiple cardiovascular risk factors aggregation and heredity, called hypertension syndrome, a special form of metabolic syndrome. The prevalence of hypertension gradually increases with age, and the prevalence of hypertension in China is 11.36%, which is not as high as that of the Western population, but due to the large population, it has exceeded 100 million people. In recent years, the traditional concept of hypertension has been updated, and the treatment should not only reduce blood pressure to the target level, but also intervene in a variety of risk factors to prevent and reverse the adverse remodeling of target organs, reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, and improve the quality of life of patients, which is of great importance to improve the overall health of Chinese residents. Hypertension diagnostic progress Hypertension diagnostic criteria and classification Human hypertension levels are objective, and the definition of hypertension is artificially determined based on large-scale epidemiological findings, as the 2003 European hypertension guidelines state that the relationship between blood pressure levels and cardiovascular disease is continuous, so any definition and classification of hypertension is arbitrary. 1971 Rose has pointed out that “Hypertension is a level of blood pressure above which the benefits of screening and treatment outweigh the harms”. In China, the diagnostic criteria and staging of hypertension were established four times in 1959, 1974, 1979 and 1999 according to national conditions at different times. 1999 WHO defined hypertension as blood pressure ≥140/90mmHg (1mmHg=0.133kPa), 1997 International Society of Hypertension (ISH), US Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Treatment of The Sixth National Report on Hypertension (JNC6) still defined hypertension as systolic blood pressure (SBP) ≥ 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) ≥ 90 mmHg. In October 1999, the Chinese Hypertension Consortium referred to the 1999 WHO/ISH guidelines for the management of hypertension and defined hypertension as:SBP ≥ 140 mmHg without antihypertensive medication and/or DBP ≥ 90 mmHg, and by blood pressure level Class I, II, and III hypertension, which is basically consistent with previous mild, moderate, and severe hypertension.
