Effects of Hanxia Tianma Baijutsu Tang

Semen xia Bai Zhu Tian Ma Tang acts as the main treatment for dizziness and headache caused by wind-phlegm upward disturbance (wind-phlegm evils invading the head). It is an evidence of internal movement of liver wind (wind evil from the liver working in the body) and upward disturbance of phlegm (phlegm evil invading the head upward). Semixia Bai Zhu Tian Ma Tang is an expectorant, composed of Semixia, Atractylodes Macrocephalae, Tian Ma, Poria, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, Glycyrrhiza Uralensis, Ginger and Jujubae, whose main effects are to resolve phlegm and extinguish wind (resolving phlegm evil and calming the wind evil), invigorating the spleen to dispel dampness (enabling the drainage of dampness by replenishing the spleen). The main effect of Radix et Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae Tianma Tang is to dissolve phlegm and quench wind, and then strengthen the spleen to dispel dampness (to expel dampness by tonifying the spleen) as a supplement to the treatment of the root of the disease, which is caused by a deficiency of the spleen. The main treatment for dizziness and headache caused by spleen dampness generating phlegm, phlegm-dampness congestion, leading to liver wind, resulting in wind-phlegm upheaval (wind-phlegm evil qi infesting the head) and clearing the air. It can also be used to treat chest and diaphragm congestion (distension of the chest and diaphragm), nausea and vomiting caused by phlegm and qi stagnation (phlegm and qi stagnation in the body), and elevation and de-activation disorders. Patients are often accompanied by a white, greasy tongue and slippery pulse. Note: It should not be used in cases of yin deficiency and hyperactivity (deficiency of yin fluid and hyperactivity of yang energy) or deficiency of qi and blood. The identification of TCM is complicated and should be treated with medication under the guidance of a professional TCM practitioner, and not on one’s own.
