Administration of fulvestrant injection: checking the drug solution, removing the cap and installing the needle, injecting, and activating the protective device.
1. Checking the medicinal solution: first check the glass injection syringe for breakage, then check the medicinal solution to make sure that there is no discoloration of the medicinal solution or the presence of particulate matter.
2. Remove the cap and install the needle: hold the syringe with one hand upright on the ribbed part, hold the cap with the other hand and carefully cock it back and forth, do not rotate it, let the cap disconnect and remove the cap along the straight upward direction, this process should not touch the tip of the syringe. Finally, attach the safety needle to the Luer-Lok and tighten it, and check the needle fixation.
3. Injection: Remove the protective cover from the needle and place the syringe at the injection site, remove the needle cover and expel the excess air inside. Keep the needle beveled upward and gently push the pusher arm to complete the gluteal muscle injection.
4. Activate the protective device: Immediately after the injection, lift the auxiliary pusher arm with one finger to activate the protective device.
Fulvestrant injection must not be autoclaved for safety-type needles before use. This drug may cause adverse reactions such as weakness, nausea, elevated liver enzymes, etc. It is contraindicated for intramuscular injection in children, in persons with severe hepatic impairment, in lactating and pregnant females, and in persons who are allergic to this drug or to excipients.
