What causes high uric acid and high total bilirubin?

There are two main reasons for high uric acid: impaired uric acid excretion or excessive production of uric acid. High total bilirubin is mainly caused by blood system diseases and liver problems. 1. Uric acid excretion disorder: uric acid is mainly excreted through the kidneys and intestines, and the kidneys are the main source of uric acid excretion. Renal excretion depends on glomerular filtration, proximal tubular reabsorption and secretion. When the normal physiological function of the kidney and intestinal tract is abnormal, it can lead to elevated levels of uric acid. 2. Excessive production of uric acid: excessive production of uric acid is related to the patient’s intake of purine, obesity, etc. The patient needs to reduce the intake of high-purine content of food, and appropriate exercise. 3. Blood system diseases: Due to certain blood system diseases, such as hemolytic anemia leads to excessive destruction of red blood cells, resulting in high levels of total bilirubin. 4. Liver problems: due to liver diseases, such as bile duct obstruction, viral hepatitis and other diseases, resulting in liver metabolism of bilirubin dysfunction, leading to elevated bilirubin levels. When high uric acid and high total bilirubin appear, it is recommended to go to the hospital for examination and treatment as soon as possible to avoid aggravation of the condition.
