The amount of time that different Down’s babies can live varies greatly. Some die within a few days of birth, and a few can live to be about sixty years old. Down’s syndrome is a chromosomal disorder caused by an abnormality of the congenital chromosome 21; these babies are often born with special facial features, abnormal intelligence, and multiple malformations; if they are combined with malformations of important organs, such as cardiac malformations, they may die a few days after birth; if they are not combined with malformations of important organs, and if their families are able to take care of them and carry out rehabilitation, a small number of them can live up to 60 years old or so. It is recommended to avoid exposure to harmful substances from the beginning of pregnancy, and to have regular obstetric checkups during pregnancy; if there is any abnormality in the Down’s syndrome screening, you need to go to the hospital in time, and if necessary, do non-invasive or amniocentesis for further checkups, so as to try to eliminate the birth of Down’s syndrome babies.
