Diabetes mellitus has become one of the chronic diseases that seriously threaten human health. According to the WHO, the incidence of diabetes is increasing significantly year by year. The current prevalence of diabetes in adults in China is about 9.7%, with a total of about 90 million people, 90% of whom have type II diabetes. Traditional treatment methods include diet control, exercise, oral hypoglycemic drugs and insulin injections, etc. However, these treatment methods can hardly cure diabetes fundamentally, keep patients’ blood sugar stable for a long time, and prevent the occurrence and development of various complications of diabetes fundamentally. Long-term chronic hyperglycemia in diabetes can cause chronic complications such as retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy, peripheral neuropathy, peripheral vascular disease and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, which become the main cause of disability or death. Therefore, it is important to provide effective treatment for diabetic patients. In recent years, the treatment of type II diabetes mellitus by gastric bypass at home and abroad has achieved very satisfactory results, with a cure rate of 83% to 86%, and some reports suggest that the cure rate is as high as 91% and the total effective rate is 100%. In 2010, expert guidelines for the surgical treatment of diabetes mellitus in China were released. Domestic studies have also affirmed the efficacy of surgery in treating type II diabetes. At present, China for surgical treatment of type II diabetes is being gradually applied in the clinic.
