What causes esophagogastric fundal varices?

The causes of esophagogastric fundal varices include various factors such as prehepatic factors such as portal vein thromboembolism, intrahepatic factors such as cirrhosis, posthepatic factors, and others. 1. Pre-hepatic factors: portal vein thromboembolism, splenic vein thromboembolism, congenital portal vein occlusion, tumor compression, pancreatic pseudocyst compression leading to esophagogastric fundal varices. 2. Intrahepatic factors: cirrhosis is the main cause of this disease, including hepatomegaly cirrhosis, schistosomiasis cirrhosis, hepatitis cirrhosis, cholestatic cirrhosis, alcoholic cirrhosis, primary liver cancer and so on. 3. Post-hepatic factors: such as constrictive pericarditis, Bugatti’s syndrome, chronic heart failure and so on. 4. Other factors include idiopathic portal hypertension. Beta-blockers can cause visceral vasoconstriction to reduce portal blood flow and pressure, such as propranolol. Growth inhibitors and their analogs selectively constrict visceral blood vessels and significantly reduce blood flow to the liver in cirrhotic portal hypertension, such as octreotide. If there is a need for medication, it should be used under the guidance of a doctor, and should not be used blindly on its own to avoid adverse consequences.
