Adults with eye diseases such as cataracts and eye trauma can suffer from vision loss.
Adults may experience vision loss due to a variety of different types of eye diseases, such as cataracts, retinal detachment, optic neuropathy, glaucoma, and ocular trauma. Many eye diseases occur in middle-aged and older adults, and vision loss usually occurs in middle or old age, such as age-related cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.
For some diseases that occur in childhood and adolescence, such as refractive error, vision loss will gradually stop in most cases after adulthood, but patients with high myopia may still progress and continue to lose vision even after adulthood.
Patients with vision loss are advised to seek medical attention in time to assess their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
