Difference between twin and single cesarean section

There are some differences between twin pregnancies and single pregnancies in terms of delivery time, surgical risks and post-partum recovery.
1. Delivery time: In twin pregnancy, due to the limited space for fetal growth and development, premature labor is likely to occur, so when there are signs of imminent labor, cesarean section needs to be performed as early as possible. While single pregnancy has a relatively low chance of preterm labor, if cesarean section is needed, it is usually performed at full term.
2. Surgical risk: women with twin pregnancies are prone to high blood pressure during pregnancy, gestational diabetes and other diseases, and the surgical risk of cesarean section is higher. The surgical risk of cesarean section for singleton pregnancy is relatively small.
3. Post-partum recovery: the uterus is larger in twin pregnancies, and recovery after cesarean section is relatively slow. A single pregnancy will have a significantly lower chance of postoperative infection and a relatively quicker recovery after surgery.
If a woman has a twin pregnancy, it is recommended that she go to the hospital in time, under the guidance of the doctor for the regulation of pregnancy, prevention and timely detection of gestational hypertension, diabetes and other diseases, timely treatment.
