In women, qi stagnation and blood stasis (blood stasis due to lack of qi flow) mainly manifests as breast swelling and pain, menstrual cramps, menstrual blood that is purple in color with clots, and even amenorrhea. Qi stagnation and blood stasis are certificates in which stagnation of qi leads to stagnation of blood flow, or blood stasis leads to blockage of qi (obstruction of qi flow), resulting in both qi stagnation and blood stasis as the main manifestations. Common symptoms include: pain in the chest and ribs (chest and ribs) or in the epigastric region with swelling, tingling, and fixed pain; hard lumps or localized bruises and swelling; depression and irritability; or a purple color. In addition to the above common symptoms, there may also be dark purple lips and claws, purple tongue, or petechiae, and stringy or astringent pulse. Women may also have breast distension and pain, dysmenorrhea, purplish blood or blood clots, amenorrhea, and so on. If qi stagnation and blood stasis or similar symptoms occur, one should consult a clinician promptly and take medication or treatment as prescribed by the doctor.
