What is skin soft tissue dilation?

Soft tissue dilation refers to the implantation of a soft tissue expander under the normal soft tissue of the skin and the injection of fluid into the expansion capsule through an injection jug to increase the volume of the expander, so that it exerts pressure on the soft tissue of the skin on the surface, and through the local action of the expansion mechanism, the tissue and epidermal cells divide and proliferate and the cell gap is enlarged, thus increasing the skin area and using the newly increased soft tissue of the skin for tissue repair and A method of organ reconstruction. Selection of expansion area: The closer the anatomical parts of the donor and recipient areas are, the better the skin color and texture will be after repair, so the adjacent parts of the lesion area are preferred when selecting the expansion area. Choice of injection solution: The most commonly used injection solution is saline for injection. Injection schedule: Currently, a frequency of 1-2 times/week is generally used. Expander removal and expansion flap transfer (phase II surgery) After the expander expansion flap is sufficient, phase II surgery is selected electively to remove the expander and design expansion flaps, such as glide advancement, rotation, and translocation flaps, according to the characteristics of the lesion. Clinical application: Currently, skin soft tissue expansion can be applied to plastic repair of the scalp, face and neck, trunk, extremities and reconstruction of the auricle, nose, breast and other organs.
