What is bupivacaine

Bupivacaine is an ester nerve blocking local anesthetic, which is characterized by high toxicity, easy to penetrate the mucosa, epidural block or lumbar anesthesia effect time of 1.5 hours. Because of the greater toxicity of bupivacaine, 10 times more than lidocaine, so bupivacaine has rarely been used in anesthesia, as an obsolete drug. Except for individual mucosal anesthesia, bupivacaine is no longer used as an anesthetic drug option for nerve block anesthesia. With the application of new anesthetics, local anesthetics, bupivacaine has been eliminated, and because of its toxicity, blocking efficacy and other effects have not met the requirements of modern anesthesia, more complications, has been replaced by other amide anesthetics, ester anesthetics.
