Cirrhosis is a pathological stage in which various chronic liver diseases progress to a stage characterised by chronic inflammation and diffuse fibrosis of the liver, and is the end stage of liver disease.
The structure of the liver itself is severely damaged and even with standard treatment, the liver can only be protected as much as possible, delaying the process of cirrhosis and managing the complications it causes; it cannot be reversed, much less cured, and it will gradually deteriorate.
