What to do if you have pus

Pus flow is a manifestation of infection and should be thoroughly debrided and adequately drained. If the condition allows, part of the pus can be taken for smear and bacterial culture and identification to further clarify the pathogenesis and targeted anti-infection treatment. If the patient has a significant fever, antipyretic medication may be given, and the patient may be advised to drink more water to increase blood circulation, which may also help reduce fever. Local pain may also be evident and pain relief medication should be given. If the local infection is severe, anti-infective treatment should be combined. If the condition allows, the patient should be advised to take more food rich in protein, especially high quality animal protein, which can also promote local recovery.
