Eyes that feel like the light is not bright enough may have vision loss, or it may be a sign of farsightedness or presbyopia, which occurs in everyone as they age, after about age 45 in normal people and earlier in farsighted patients. Symptoms are a lack of clarity in seeing close up, high light demand for reading, and an inability to see permanently, requiring treatment with presbyopic glasses of the right prescription. For patients with other types of refractive errors, care should be taken to add the original prescription to the presbyopia prescription, requiring one pair of glasses for distance viewing and another pair for near viewing. Patients with presbyopia should pay attention to the process of reading at close range or using electronic products for too long, and the light must be bright to prevent visual fatigue symptoms.
