If you are slightly cut by a dog’s tooth, it is recommended that you first squeeze the affected area, rinse the wound, etc., and then go to the hospital for rabies vaccination in a timely manner to prevent rabies.
It is recommended to squeeze the affected area from proximal to distal end to drain the blood from the wound after being slightly cut by the dog’s teeth. Follow up by rinsing the affected area with running water or soapy water, and then disinfecting the area with iodophor solution to prevent infection. After simple self-treatment, go to the hospital for rabies vaccination to prevent rabies virus infection.
In addition, keep the wound hygienic and dry after the vaccination, and avoid getting water on the wound or pressing on the affected area to prevent infection. If the rabies vaccine is not administered in time, the patient may develop rabies, during which he/she may experience symptoms such as photophobia, headache and mental instability.
Since rabies is a 100% fatal disease, it is not recommended that patients take any chances and go to the hospital for rabies vaccination within 48 hours after the injury to prevent rabies.
