Chicken Head Yellow Essence is a kind of yellow essence. Its effects include benefiting qi and nourishing yin (tonifying qi and yin), tonifying the spleen, moistening the lungs and nourishing the kidneys. It is used for treating lung yin deficiency, spleen and stomach deficiency, kidney essence deficiency and internal heat and thirst (internal heat accompanied by symptoms such as excessive eating, drinking and urination). Chicken Head Yellow Essence, which is flat in nature and sweet in taste, belongs to the lung, spleen and kidney meridians, in addition to Ginger-shaped Yellow Essence and Dian Yellow Essence. This drug nourishes lung yin and benefits lung qi, treating cough due to deficiency of lung yin (insufficient yin in the lungs), accompanied by dry cough with little phlegm and shortness of breath due to qi deficiency; tonifying spleen qi and benefiting yin, treating loss of appetite due to deficiency of spleen and stomach qi and yin, and dryness of the mouth and little food or hunger and lack of desire for food. This product can also tonify the kidney and benefit the essence (replenish the kidney essence), treating kidney essence deficiency, waist deficiency and soreness, early whitening of hair, blurred vision; tonifying the qi of the lungs, spleen and kidneys, generating fluids and nourishing yin and moistening dryness (nourishing yin essence and clearing away the heat evils), and is often used with maitong and dendrobium for treating thirst. The adverse effects of this product are not clear, and caution is advised for those with weak spleen and stomach, phlegm-dampness internal obstruction (phlegm and dampness obstructing the internal organs and meridians), and abdominal distension and loose stools (thin and unformed stools).
