Can patients with gastritis take levofloxacin

Oral levofloxacin is not recommended for patients with gastritis. The main factors causing gastritis include excessive secretion of gastric acid and H. pylori infection. It can be treated by oral proton pump inhibitors, gastric mucosal protectors and anti-H. pylori. Anti-H. pylori treatment is often used with clindamycin, amoxicillin and proton pump inhibitors. Quinolone antibiotics such as levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, have better efficacy against Gram-negative bacilli, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and Mycoplasma pneumoniae. However, they are weak against Helicobacter pylori and the gastrointestinal reactions of quinolones are more pronounced and are not recommended for patients with gastritis. The treatment of gastritis patients in addition to oral intake of the above drugs, must pay attention to three regular meals, avoid spicy and cold, irritating food, eat less and more meals, to promote the repair of the gastrointestinal mucosa.
