Is it coronavirus that makes your throat hoarse?

A hoarse throat may be caused by a novel coronavirus infection. Patients with novel coronavirus pneumonia have mild clinical symptoms in the early stage, which can include itchy throat, sore throat, headache, nasal congestion, and runny nose. As the disease progresses patients can develop respiratory symptoms such as fever, dry cough, dyspnea, etc. Some patients with deteriorating disease can develop hypoxia, shortness of breath and even respiratory failure may occur. There is no effective clinical treatment for novel coronavirus infection, which causes novel coronavirus pneumonia. While common bacterial or viral infections can also cause respiratory symptoms such as hoarseness, nasal congestion, and runny nose, broad-spectrum antibiotics or antiviral drugs such as oseltamivir phosphate and amantadine are effective in treatment.
