What does edaravone injection do?

Edaravone Injection is mainly used in the treatment of acute cerebral infarction and brain injury. Edaravone injection is a new type of free radical scavenger that has only begun to be used in recent years, which can improve the symptoms related to cerebral infarction, inhibit the reduction of local cerebral blood flow in the early stage of the disease, improve the blood circulation of the patient’s brain, and inhibit lipid peroxidation, so as to prevent the damage of the brain cells, the endothelium of the blood vessels and the neuronal cells. It should be noted that the use of this product is generally 14 days a course of treatment, as far as possible within 24h after the onset of cerebral infarction, this product can prevent the progression of cerebral edema and cerebral infarction, and alleviate the concomitant neurological symptoms, inhibit the delayed neuron death, the optimal time for the use of the cerebral infarction within 48 hours after the onset of cerebral infarction, and need to be tested for hepatic and renal function prior to use. Edaravone injection may cause adverse reactions such as erythrocytopenia, leukocytosis, leukopenia, etc. It is contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure, and in patients with previous history of allergy to the product. The combination of this product with drugs that may cause renal impairment (such as cefazolin sodium, cefotiam sodium) may aggravate renal failure, and renal function monitoring should be performed several times during the period of co-administration.
