When is the best time to exercise for humerus fracture

In general, passive exercise is performed after at least 6 weeks and active exercise after 3 months for humerus fractures. After active and proper treatment, patients with humeral fractures reach the clinical healing standard in about 4 weeks and basically resume most functional activities in about 6 weeks. However, at this time, the weight-bearing of the fracture site still cannot reach the weight-bearing standard, and the patient can start passive functional exercise after 6 weeks. Patients can achieve bony healing in about 3 months and can gradually start active exercise. Patients need to have a review of X-rays every month during active treatment so that the orthopedic surgeon can clarify the degree of fracture healing and determine the follow-up treatment and rehabilitation plan based on the results of the review, and the relevant exercises should be performed under the guidance of the doctor to avoid adverse complications from premature exercise. During the treatment of humerus fracture, it is necessary to move the wrist joint and fingers. After the pain is relieved, appropriate functional exercises should be carried out to slowly move the arm, and also posterior extension, abduction and supination, and then gradually do large activities.
