The time required for sputum test and sputum culture for tuberculosis is about one day and 3-5 days respectively. Generally taking sputum secreted from the respiratory tract and smearing it on a glass slide to look for antacid bacilli is a sputum test for tuberculosis, and results can be obtained within a day. Its sputum for culture of Mycobacterium tuberculosis takes a relatively long time, usually about five days to produce the results. If it is an emergency, an expedited culture can be shortened to about three days. Because sputum culture needs to wait for the increase of Mycobacterium tuberculosis multiplication in the sputum, this process needs sufficient time to finally clarify the presence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in sputum.
