Chronic pharyngolaryngitis generally has a good prognosis, but attention should be paid to regulating emotions and moods, and diet.
Chronic pharyngolaryngitis belongs to “plum nucleus qi (similar to pharyngeal synesthesia)” in Chinese medicine. Most of them are related to the seven emotions and unfavorable qi. The main clinical manifestation of the pharynx is a sense of foreign body obstruction, mostly aggravated by emotional discomfort, and there is no abnormality in the examination of the pharynx.
Chinese medicine is usually treated with internal Chinese medicine or acupuncture. The internal treatment of Chinese medicine is based on the identification of evidence: Liver-Qi stagnation is treated with the addition and subtraction of Free and Easy San; Phlegm-Qi Conjugation (phlegm in the body accompanied by poor qi) is treated with the use of Semixia and Houpaku Tang; and Qi stagnation and blood stasis is treated with the use of Tao Ren Sizu Tang combined with Er Chen Tang. Acupuncture and moxibustion therapy is commonly used in pharyngolaryngologic body acupuncture therapy, pharyngolaryngologic moxibustion, auricular acupuncture therapy, and so on.
After the treatment of chronic pharyngitis, pay attention to preventive care. To maintain an optimistic state of mind, quit smoking and alcohol, prohibit eating fat, sweet, thick and greasy products, reduce the psychological burden.
