The classification of cerebral infarction can be divided into the following five types according to the etiology: 1. large artery atherosclerosis type, the onset of which manifests as aphasia, impaired consciousness, and dyskinesia. 2. cardiogenic embolism. 3. small artery occlusion type, also known as lacunar cerebral infarction, which generally has hypertension and diabetes mellitus to support the diagnosis of this type. 4. other clearly etiologic types, seen in vasculitis causing cerebral infarction, vascular malformation, and smog. 5. unknown causes cerebral infarction caused by unknown causes. According to the infarct site, there are three types: 1. lacunar cerebral infarction, which has an infarct focal area of less than 1.5mm; 2. medium-area cerebral infarction, which is more frequent in the lateral ventricles, bilateral frontal lobes and temporal lobes; 3. large-area cerebral infarction, which has a more acute onset and more severe symptoms, with the possibility of brain herniation and coma.
