What’s wrong with low follicles?

There are many clinical causes of low follicularity in women, starting with premature ovarian failure, which usually occurs when the follicles present in the ovaries are depleted and cannot be developed by follicle-promoting drugs, or when gonadal hormones fail to act on the primordial follicles. In addition, women with polycystic ovary syndrome are also prone to follicular dysplasia and low follicularity. This condition is also one of the common causes of non-ovulation in women, in which women with larger ovaries will have multiple small follicles present, but unable to develop and mature properly. Low follicles in women are also associated with abnormalities in adrenal cortex function, thyroid cortex function, as well as pituitary function and hypothalamus function. It is recommended that women with few follicles go to the hospital for timely examination to prevent infertility.
