Do you need a cast to get the plate out?

Plate is often referred to as internal fixation, and whether it needs to be put in plaster after it is taken out needs to be judged in specific cases, if the fracture has already healed, generally it does not need to be put in plaster, if the fracture has not yet healed, and the internal fixation is taken out in advance because of special circumstances, then it needs to be put in plaster.
Surgical internal fixation after fracture has the function of fixing the fracture end and pressurizing the fracture to promote the fracture, and it is usually taken out after the fracture has healed, but it is also necessary to take out the internal fixation in some special cases, such as broken plate and non-healing of the fracture.
If the X-ray shows that the fracture has already healed, there is no need for plaster fixation after removing the internal fixation, and proper rest and avoiding overweight can be enough. If the fracture has not yet healed, and the plate breaks, and a second operation is needed, or the fracture doesn’t heal because of the improper position and angle of the internal fixation, plaster fixation is needed after the operation.
Whether the fracture needs to be immobilized in plaster after the internal fixation is removed, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time and under the guidance of a professional doctor.
