Is colonic diverticulum surgery minimally invasive?

Colonic diverticulum surgery is minimally invasive. Colonic diverticulum is very common and refers to the outward protrusion of the mucosal layer of the colon and the muscular layer of the mucosa, which will form a pouch-like structure. If the patient does not have any clinical symptoms, no treatment is needed. If diverticulitis occurs and is recurrent and conservative treatment is ineffective, surgery may be an option. Surgery is also needed if there is complication of perforation or bleeding, and a minimally invasive procedure called laparoscopic surgery is usually chosen. Prior to surgery, relevant tests should be completed, such as routine blood tests, coagulation function, colonoscopy, electrocardiogram, etc., to evaluate the patient’s physical condition before deciding whether or not to undergo surgical treatment. After the surgery, nutritional support therapy, anti-infection therapy and so on should be carried out, which can promote the recovery of the patient.
