The implantation of a buried pacemaker is performed on an x-ray table with the patient under local anesthesia, the electrode catheter is placed via the intravenous access, the electrode above the wire is placed stably on the inner wall of the heart, the appropriate position is adjusted, the appropriate electrophysiological indicators are tested, the pacemaker is connected and implanted under the skin. The pacemaker is now only the size of a pocket watch and weighs about 25 grams. This technology is now very mature at home and abroad, and the procedure usually takes 1-2 hours and is minimally invasive and painless. With the development of science and technology, and after nearly half a century of unremitting efforts by scientists, artificial cardiac pacing systems are reaching a mature stage, and the pacemaker used now is actually a microprocessor. The pacing system is one of the most effective methods for the treatment of slow arrhythmias. We have used the existing radiological interventional room equipment, surgical instruments, the defibrillation monitoring equipment available in our department, the 5318 pacing analyzer for temporary pacing and intraoperative analysis, the 2090 programmer from Medtronic, and the Merlin programmer from St Jude. Since September 2004, we have been successfully carrying out implantation and replacement of buried pacemakers, as well as post-operative follow-up, testing and monitoring. The development of buried pacemaker therapy has created a whole new situation in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases in our city, providing the opportunity for timely and effective diagnosis and treatment of patients with pacing indications in our city and the surrounding areas, and we choose a reasonable pacing method, taking into account the actual economic capacity of our people and integrating the patient’s condition. At the same time, our affectionate humanistic care for patients and the optimal way of treatment and postoperative follow-up charges have gained great trust and appreciation from patients and their families since we started this work. In fact, we provide psychological and financial convenience for post-operative follow-up, testing, program control and replacement of pacemakers already implanted.
