What is the pain in the breast?

Breast pain, the most common complaint of breast patients during outpatient visits. The pain may be mild or severe. It is inevitable that patients will panic when they feel a lump that is not a tumor during self-examination. But in fact, the vast majority of patients who come to the clinic because of breast pain are not tumors at the final diagnosis, and most breast cancers do not have pain as the first or main symptom, unless the cancer pain occurs because the tumor grows rapidly in a short period of time or invades the nerves. What exactly is breast pain? Patients with breast pain state a variety of things, some are swelling, some are stabbing pain, some also have radiating pain, some cannot be touched when taking off and putting on clothes, some have pain in both breasts, and some have pain in only a small area or one spot. With these many descriptions of pain, the most common diagnosis is “breast enlargement”. In addition, many patients have pain related to their menstrual cycle, mostly in the week before their period or 2-3 days before their period, and the pain gradually decreases after their period. In such patients, there is no obvious pathology of mastopathy through careful outpatient examination. Even if the pain is off-cycle, most of it is related to breast enlargement, which is more common in menopausal women. A few may also have other causes, such as trauma, shingles, inflammation, discomfort in the anterior chest area due to coronary artery disease, and inflammation of the rib cartilage can also be easily confused with breast pain. Don’t be too nervous when breast pain occurs In order to eliminate the fear as soon as possible, it is necessary to go to the hospital in time, always in a nervous fear, more likely to aggravate the pain. Even if other breast problems are detected during the visit because of pain, it is still very likely to be a coincidence. This is because breast pain is not a criterion for diagnosing breast disease. Mastalgia is actually a general concept and is not used as a disease diagnosis internationally. Currently, the diagnosis of breast pain syndrome is commonly used abroad and is called mastopathy in Chinese medicine. The diagnosis of breast pain syndrome corresponds to the majority of those who come to the clinic with breast pain without a definite abnormality occurring, while those who come to the clinic with a suspected palpable lump have a more refined classification internationally depending on the pathological examination. Breast pain, to be treated according to the cause, the application of herbs and acupuncture has greatly improved the cure rate of pain.
