Generally, the normal menstrual flow is between 20-60 ml, with individual differences. If the menstrual flow is more than 80 ml, it indicates heavy menstrual flow. Heavy menstrual flow is related to strenuous exercise, endocrine disorders, uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, endometriosis and other factors. Hemostasis should be treated actively through general treatment, medication and surgery according to its causes.
1. Strenuous exercise: if a woman carries out too much and too strong exercise during menstruation, it will easily lead to the stripping of large parts of the endometrium, which will lead to heavy menstruation, at this time, she should pay attention to rest, avoid strenuous exercise, and generally do not need medication and other treatments.
2. Endocrine disorders: For patients with high stress or polycystic ovary syndrome, irregular ovulation will cause irregular stripping of the endometrium, so heavy menstruation may occur. For adolescent women, progesterone or short-acting contraceptive pills can be used as prescribed by the doctor to stop bleeding; for women who are sexually active, scraping the uterus can be used to stop bleeding if necessary.
3. Uterine fibroids and adenomyosis: these two diseases will cause the uterus to increase in size and the surface area of the endometrium, which will lead to heavy menstruation and prolonged menstruation, etc. These two diseases can be treated with short-acting contraceptive pills, GnRH and other medications, and if necessary, surgery is needed.
4. Endometrial lesions: if women have endometrial thickening, endometrial polyps and other lesions, they can use short-acting contraceptive pills to shrink the endometrium according to the doctor’s prescription, and need to scrape the uterus if necessary; if the endometrial cancer is endometrial cancer, they need to undergo surgical treatment as early as possible, and need to combine with radiotherapy and chemotherapy if necessary.
For women with heavy menstruation, it is recommended to go to the gynecology department of regular hospitals to improve the ultrasound and other relevant examinations, so as to clarify the cause of the disease and then actively treat it under the guidance of doctors.
