How long it takes to recover from a knife cut on the nail cap is determined by the severity of the cut. If the cut is not serious, it can be healed in about 10 days, if the situation is more serious, it will take about a month to recover.
1. If the nail cap is not seriously cut by a knife, and only a small part of it is cut, usually after disinfecting with hydrogen peroxide, saline and iodine povidone, bandaging, and regular medication changes, the nail cap will usually recover after ten days.
2. If the nail cap is cut by a knife with a deeper wound, causing damage to the nail plate or cutting off the nail plate, the recovery time will be longer. After the doctor has thoroughly cleaned the wound and sterilized it, suture surgery will be performed if necessary. The stitches can be removed in about 12 days and the wound will not be fully recovered until a month later.
