It is generally not recommended to take Zuo Gui Wan and Yu Gui Wan together as they have more of the same medicines and their effects overlap.
Zuo Gui Wan is composed of tortoise board gum, Chinese yam, ripened rhizome, dodder seed, deer antler gum, wolfberry, dogwood, and cow’s knee, etc. Its effect is to nourish kidney and tonify yin. It is used for treating deficiency of true yin, lumbago and weak knees, dry mouth, night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep and stopping sweating after waking up), and fatigue (lack of spirit). Children and pregnant women should not take Zuo Gui Wan. The adverse effects of this product are not known.
Right Angelica Pill is composed of Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, Semen Cuscutae, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Rhizoma Coptidis, and Fructus Lycii. It is effective in warming Kidney-Yang, filling up essence and stopping spermatorrhea (filling up and stabilizing essence to prevent spermatorrhea and sperm slippage). It is mainly used for treating deficiency of kidney yang, failure of vital fire (weakness of kidney yang in the organism, which reduces the function of warming and promoting the operation of qi and blood), fear of cold, mental instability, and loose stools. It should not be used if kidney deficiency is accompanied by dampness.
Both Zuo Gui Wan and Yu Gui Wan contain medicines such as Cuscuta, Chinese yam, Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, Fructus Lycii, and Deer Horn Gum, which have the effect of warming and tonifying Kidney-Yang. Taking them together will result in too large a dose of the same drug, which is not conducive to good health, so it is not recommended to take them together. The combination of drugs need to be used under the guidance of a physician, please do not use drugs blindly.
