How long does it take to recover from a finger flap?

After flap surgery on the finger, it usually takes 6 to 8 weeks to recover, depending on the patient’s condition. After finger free flap or local rotary flap surgery, usually need to observe for about 1 week to determine whether the flap is alive, if the flap blood flow is good, it can be removed in about 2 weeks after the operation at the hand wound sutures, after removing the sutures need to carry out functional exercises for the hand, usually a total of about 6 weeks time to recover. After neighboring finger flap surgery, after making sure that the flap is viable, the wound should be changed regularly, and then the clitoris should be cut off at about 4 weeks after surgery. Sutures are applied to the incision after clitoral dissection, so wound dressing is required after surgery. Sutures are removed 2 weeks after surgery, and with the addition of hand exercises, recovery usually takes a total of 8 weeks. After finger flap surgery, we need to follow the doctor’s instructions for postoperative care and rehabilitation exercises, usually it takes 6~8 weeks to recover, and the recovery time may be prolonged in case of necrosis of the flap, infection of the wound, or poor functional exercises.
