Yellow discharge from the nasal cavity is usually seen in the following etiologies: i. Acute rhinitis attacks due to acute upper respiratory tract infections. The pathogenic bacteria of acute rhinitis are usually rhinovirus or adenovirus, resulting in persistent bilateral turbinate edema, congestion, hypertrophy, bilateral nasal flow with yellow nasal discharge, and the patient will experience nasal congestion, headache, decreased sense of smell and other related symptoms. Acute rhinitis requires symptomatic anti-inflammatory treatment and can be cured in about a week by taking cephalosporins such as cefixime orally. Second, the acute attack of chronic sinusitis, which is caused by inflammation of the sinus mucosa after inflammatory infection, causing inflammation, exudation and edema of the sinus mucosa, usually the patient will have facial swelling and pain, headache, bilateral nasal flow of large amounts of yellow nasal discharge, sinus CT can be clearly diagnosed. In terms of treatment, the same symptomatic anti-inflammatory treatment and sinus puncture and irrigation are required and can be cured in about a week. In the case of chronic recurrent sinusitis, surgical treatment is required to cure it.
