Are there any herbs for nosebleeds?

Nasal bleeding is called epistaxis (nosebleed) in Chinese medicine, and there are many Chinese herbs for treating epistaxis, such as lateral cypress leaf, leucaena leucocephala root, panax quinquefolium, celandine, baihe and moxa leaf, and so on.
1. Lateral Cypress Leaf: with the efficacy of cooling the Blood and stopping bleeding, it can be used for treating bleeding caused by Blood-heat, treating epistaxis caused by Blood-heat paranoia (the abnormal outflow of Blood caused by heat evils), and it is often used in conjunction with Lotus Leaf.
2. Radix Bupleurum Chinense: with the efficacy of cooling Blood and stopping bleeding, it can be used in the treatment of epistaxis caused by Blood-heat, and can be used alone or in combination with other medicines.
3. Panax notoginseng: with the efficacy of resolving blood stasis and stopping bleeding, it can be used in bleeding disorders, either alone or in combination with Fructus Crataegus and Folium Carbonicum.
4. Cimicifuga: it has the effect of cooling the blood, removing blood stasis and stopping bleeding, and can be used in the treatment of bleeding disorders.
5. Bai He: with the effect of astringency and stopping bleeding (using drugs with astringent effect to treat bleeding conditions), it can be used to treat bleeding, especially for lung and stomach bleeding.
6. Ai Ye: with the efficacy of warming menstruation and stopping bleeding, it can be used together with Radix et Rhizoma Dioscoreae, Folium Lotus, Radix Cyperus Rotundus to treat epistaxis caused by blood heat.
If nosebleed occurs, one should consult the clinician and follow the doctor’s prescription for medication, rather than taking medication blindly by oneself.
